Cruz Development is a Chandler, Arizona luxury custom home builder and remodeler. Founded in 2018 by Matthew Austin Gallego, the company runs an in-house team — no brokered subcontractor chain — across the Phoenix metro.

The story

Raised around jobsites. Trained on real ones.

Matthew grew up around construction — his father ran a contracting business, and the weekends Matthew remembers are the ones that ended with sawdust on his clothes and a handful of practical lessons he couldn't have learned anywhere else.

He founded Cruz Development in 2018, took it full-time in 2021, and built the team the way his father taught him to build anything: one careful decision at a time. The company holds Arizona ROC license #344914 — a KB-1 Dual Building Contractor classification that authorizes both residential and commercial general building work under one license.

Today Cruz Development serves the greater Phoenix metro — Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Phoenix, and Glendale — with an in-house crew that handles framing through finish, plus a fixed partner roster for MEP. A small book of work on purpose: we'd rather do ten projects right than forty projects loudly.

Framing, finish carpentry, millwork, cabinetry, roofing, paint, and outdoor living are all in-house. Specialized licensed work (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) comes from a fixed partner roster we've worked with for years — not the lowest bid of the week.

Matthew on the phone. Matthew on the job.

You don't get passed to a project manager who escalates to a superintendent who calls the owner only when something breaks. Matthew is the contract, the site visits, and the warranty call. A smaller book of work, a deeper line of sight.

Line-item estimates, not back-loaded surprises.

You see every assumption, every allowance, every exclusion before you sign. Change orders happen — they always do — but they happen in writing with the math shown, not as a 15% markup discovered at closeout.

Envelope, roof, and HVAC designed for Arizona's reality.

Air sealing, rain-managed stucco, roof systems sized for monsoon and sun cycles, HVAC balanced for our actual climate zone. The details that keep a luxury home from aging prematurely are specified before ground breaks.
